“Beijing Drum Tower 北京鼓楼” was painted on site, en plein air. It was the first watercolor painting I did in China. The square around the bell tower was full of people engaged in various activities. I included the outline of an old man doing calligraphy on the pavement with water and a large brush.
Originally, I wasn’t planning to include this piece in my collection, as it isn’t my favorite and I believe my technique is stronger in other works. However, while in China, I asked many people which painting they liked most, and to my surprise, many Chinese viewers chose this one. It seems I captured something here that resonates more with the beholder’s eye than with the artist’s. For that reason, I decided to keep it in.
Each artwork will be signed dated and sent in a secure envelope.
Each print will also be signed and numbered.
Materials and Dimensions:
Original: 180x260mm , 300gsm Cotton Watercolour Paper framed in basic white frame.
Print: B5, quality paper: Hahnemule German Etch 310gsmB5
