“Classmates 同学“ was painted on location at the Peking University (PKU) campus. This one’s special to me for a few reasons—it was painted on campus, and the subjects are my classmates, Udbella and Charlène. I really enjoyed my time at PKU and loved my class, so this captures a great memory.
It’s also one of my favourite pieces compositionally. I started with the two figures while they were still sitting in front of me—thankfully, since they left after about an hour—and then finished the background and added pen later.
PKU is one of China’s top universities. The campus is built on the former site of Qing dynasty imperial gardens, with traditional pagodas (like the one in this painting), man-made lakes, and what’s said to be the biggest library in Asia.
Each artwork will be signed dated and sent in a secure envelope.
Each print will also be signed and numbered.
